The Band was organized last October with a membership of twenty. At that time there was not a first class instrument in the Band. Now, besides otber good instruments, they have twelve high-grade horns—new, or practically so—amounting in value to $625. With the exception of about $250 received from hall concerts and street playing, the boys have individually paid for their instruments, besides paying all incidentals. Altho but one member had ever played a band instrument before last fall, they have made such progress that they would be pleased to hear from any amateur band of similar instrumentation in the State in regard to entering a contest at an early date. Any band containing no member who has been playing a band instrument more than two years will be considered an amateur in this connection.
